As
the following artist is a DJ I want to construct him as the main focus within
my homepage concept. I want to do this by composing the DJ at the right side of
the homepage. To further stylize the design I plan for the homepage to be black
and white with the background being white. At the left side of the homepage I
will create four labels in large black bold letters, which will also act as
links. The following four will be positioned vertically to each other and will
be the homepage, tours, newsletter and music. Additionally there will be an mp3
player present on the page similar to the one sound-cloud displays when a song
is being played. This mp3 player will automatically begin playing the artists
work once someone visits the webpage and will thus further inform the visitor
about the artist’s music. I think that this contemporary design would grab
people's attention through its simplicity and what information it has to offer
about the artist in a modestly laid out manner.
“Beast Mode” is a song created by Ta-ku and Jaden Smith, mainly featuring Jaden Smith. I have decided to develop upon my third music video concept with this song and dj. As a dj has created this song I can successfully display it through a performance and narrative act within the music video. Furthermore within my concept I plan for the lead singer to transcend between the performance and narrative act as to add more meaning to the work. Through the above I hope to create a stimulating music video in correspondence to the following pitch.
The music video begins with a teacher in pimp clothes walking towards a classroom in slow motion. The classroom is than shown with students sitting calmly waiting for their teacher who walks to the front of the classroom. This action is intercut with many actions done by the teacher such as: receiving homework, looking at his students good grades, recommending a student for university, slapping a student with a white glove for laziness, not allowing his student to eat until they finish their work. Each of the following actions is completed in a manner that is suppose to be pimp like. Clearly displaying that the students work for the teacher and that the teacher does not work for the students. All of the following will be intercut with the teacher dancing in front of the classroom and a band performance in the studio. While dancing in front of the classroom the teacher will also split into two and dance in two different styles. At the end of the music video the teacher will be shown waking up in his desk with a pile of work being dropped on his desk.
Generally through this music video I hope to introduce the faces of the singers within the work to the audience as well as display alternating elements of the narrative and dj and artist performance so that the music video is exciting and interesting throughout. Additionally this idea has been influenced by the film fight club, which similarly displays a character that is the protagonist’s fictional creation, and by my own personal experiences of people with emotional issues and such. Finally I believe that there are certain sections within my concept that require polishing and defining so as to add to the overall project but I think that overall it is a probable concept for a music video.
For
my digipak design I want it to feature the two singers within the song. Much like
the artwork displayed I want the two singers to be shown sitting in the corner
of the digipak design. Furthermore I want the two to look like each other’s
opposites or alternate parts to support the idea within the music video. I have
imagined the lead singer being shown with a gun in his hand sunk in his
emotions and stressed by the emotions he has to make. Meanwhile I want to
display the backup singer as being loose, careless and forthcoming. By doing
all of the following I hope that the digipak artwork work in combination with
the music video further displaying the differences between ones conscious and
themselves. At the top right I would have the name of the song and the names of
the band members displayed in bold white letter on a gray background to bring
attention towards the titles and the figures of the singers. I think that this
is a working digipak design because it has a meaning behind it except for only
being pleasing to the viewer.
I
want for my second music video concept homepage it to embrace the singers and
other artists within the band. I have imagined the band being represented
similarly to the following image with the lead singer in the front, the backup
singer behind him and the rest of the band behind both of them. I would have
this depiction appear on a solid black background to the left oh the homepage.
At the center right of the page I would embed and display the bands music video
that would begin playing automatically once the homepage is open. Above the
music video I would create titles in and links in white to the newsletter,
tour, contact information and more. These following titles would be shown next
to each other spanning across the horizontal length of music video. Finally I
would also create small thumbnail links at the bottom center of the homepage to
Facebook, twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. All of the following combined would
allow the site visitor to easily view the members of the band and have quick
access to their music and further information about them displayed in
simplistic but pleasant manner.

The music video begins with the lead singer being denied something important, such as a job opportunity or maybe a girl. This action occurs within the narrative of the music video. Following as the music within the video begins to play the audience is shown the silhouette of a band playing through a combination of different shots. Once the lead singer begins to sing the camera cuts back to him as he is entering his house. Over the course of his first verse the lead singer throws stuff around and has an angry fit. This scene cuts to and from the scene of the band playing. As the lead singer calms down the backing singer appears in a mask in front of him and begins to sing his verse. The backing singer gets in the face of the lead singer and frightens him unto the point where the lead singer collapses to the floor. The lead singer is than seen putting his face into his hands and than rising in front of the band singing his following verse. Afterwards the lead singer is shown once again in his house on the floor in front of the backing singer. At this point the backing singer sings his last couple verses as the lead singer looks at him again and escapes to bathroom and slams the door behind him. At this point the backing singer appears in front of him and pushes him to the floor while still singing. The camera gradually zooms in on the lead singer and than on the backing singer while cutting between them. At the end of his verse the backing singer brings the lead singer to his feet and disappears at the end of his verse while whispering in his ear his last line. The lead singer is then shown looking around confused while continuously gasping for air. At last the lead singer is again shown in front of the band singing the last verse within the music video while cutting back to him standing dazed within the bathroom.

When
thinking about my digipak design for Conrad Sewell I wanted it to relate to the
music video and the website. That is why I thought about displaying hip-hop
dancer dancing in the woods during a sunset/night. To further enhance the
digipak I felt that I could take long exposure photographs of the hip-hop
dancer to make it seem as if their images are moving or to make it seem as if
their images have just moved from some place/dance move. By constructing this
imagery I can intertwine it with the website and music video while still making
it seem like a representation of the music from an alternate angle. Furthermore
I feel that such an image is pleasing to the eye and would attract people to
purchase the music or at least research the artist. To finish of I would have
the album title and artist name embedded in the centre of the Digipak in white
letters. This white letters would be of the same style as is shown on the web
page of the artist.
For
my homepage for Conrad Sewell I wanted to explore themes that would be somehow
associated to music video. Therefore I wanted the homepage to have fading
images of hip-hop dancer as shown in the following image. I would accomplish
the following, except for the central photograph, which I would replace with a
photograph of the lead singer that would also fade into the background. Above the photograph the artists name would be
displayed in clear white letters. Following, at the upper center of the
homepage I’d have the homepage sign and link. Stretching to the right and left
of that link I would create other links to newsletters, albums, contact
information, tours and more. Additionally I would create small picture links to
Facebook, instagram twitter and more at the bottom center of the page. Finally
to further stylize the homepage I would turn the photographs of hip-hop dancers
into videos that play once the site visitor hovers over them or over the link
that is above a certain photograph/video. By completing all of the following I
hope to achieve a homepage that intrigues the site visitor to continue
exploring the artist and other sources within the web page.
