Our group has realized that we must purchase paint that can
be safely thrown at people. At the same time we understood that we must make
certain that our actors and dancers are not allergic to the paint we choose to
use. By looking at different types of paint, and paint companies I came upon
Glidden paint. This paints are sold in large container, and their viscosity is
nearly liquid like which would allow us to easily toss them and create
fantastic visualizations through their use. Furthermore our group agreed that
we should utilize latex paints, as they are water based. In other words this
means that can be easily washed of through the use of soap and water, whilst
oil paint require special chemicals to be washed off. Although our group must
still make certain that our dancers are not allergic to the paint, we feel
confident that this is an appropriate solution to our problem.

Tackling Issues - Studio
As our group is planning on shooting our entire project
within the grounds of the studio we had to find a way to overcome an issue
related to the use of paint. Mainly the studio would be greatly damaged if we
were to throw paint around unsystematically. It would also decrease the time
that we would have to shoot the other elements of our music video due to the
time we would have to spend cleaning the paint of the floors and walls. The
solution to this problem that our group came up with was to purchase large
sheets of fabric to cover the studio walls and floor. After an extensive amount
of research we came to the conclusion that waterproof tarpaulin would work. We found
a company (Cunningham covers) that takes quotation orders for waterproof
tarpaulin, which would also allow us to customize the pieces of fabric to the
size of the studio. Through the use of this fabric in combination with some
duct tape we should be able to easily secure the studio walls and floor.
Furthermore because the tarpaulin is available in many colours our group could
use it as a background layer for our slow-motion/paint element.

Tackling Issues - Phantom Camera
The Phantom camera is an expensive piece of equipment that
could easily be damaged when paint is being thrown around. Our group had to
find a way to use the phantom in a way that would decrease the chances of it
being destroyed or damaged to downright impossible. The first notion we came up
with was to place a non-reflective glass screen in front of the camera and
cover the rest of the camera with some type of fabric. Through research I found
that the company Wessex-Pictures retails art-glass which is a piece of glass
that reflects solely 0.5% of light and could be easily placed in front of the
phantom to make certain that no paint flies onto the camera. The piece of glass
could easily be attached to the material through the use of duct tape, and
placed upwards through the use of a tripod. Due to the following our group has
agreed that this is a working solution to our issue related to the phantom
camera equipment.

Planning - Track Premission
Our group has contacted Interscope records in order to make certain that we will be able to legally utilize the song during pre and post production as well as releasing it in combination with our music video on certain online platforms. We have soon after deploying this email received a response from the record company and are now fully capable of using this piece of art legally without copyright infringement.

Planning - Animatic Storyboard: Design Process
When creating the animatic storyboard I used Final Cut Pro. I've uploaded images to the program and used them throughout the timeline as if they were video files. I made certain to time transition between the images to the rhyme and beat of the music. Furthermore I've placed the images throughout the song accordingly to how I felt our music video will be portrayed. By doing I feel I am enabling myself, my group and our audiences to having a clear understanding of our music video concept. The animatic storyboard especially aids in creating understanding of the pace of the music video. Furthermore the animatic storyboard will allow me and my group to see whether we are pleased with the flow and components of our music video. The design process of the animatic is quit simple. In this process I grabbed the image i deemed necessary from the project library, placed it on the timeline and cut it to an appropriate time. I did this repeatedly until I have finished the animatic. At that point I export the file as a video and upload it to youtube so that my team member can view it.

Planning - Storyboard
The following group of images represents our group’s
storyboard. This storyboard should be read from left to right such as normal
written text would be read. I feel that
the creation of this storyboard has enabled our group to grasp a clearer idea
of what it is we want to achieve through shooting, as well as aid every member
of our group to visualize what our idea will hopefully appear to look like.
Overall I think that creating the storyboard was an important aspect of further
developing our music video concept.
