Planning - Costumes

A a group we chose do present our lead artist in a black dress when she will be shown on the TV set. My group shares my opinion that this will work well with light being illuminated from the televisions and the dark and technical background. On the other hand although we chose to dress our lead artist in a white dress when she will be shown on a white background. We made this decision as we want to emphasize the black paint that will enter that set and at one point hit our lead singer splattering over the area. Personally I think that by dressing our artist in a white dress we will allow for the detail of the black paint to be easily visible.

As for our performers that will be shown on black backgrounds we chose to present them in white costumes as well. We wanted our performers costumes to reflect their dance styles. Therefore we agreed that for our break dancer we will purchase a hoodie and sweatpants, for our ballerina a leotard, tights and a tutu, and for our hip-hop dancer a simple shirt and jeans. Furthermore by choosing a variety of white and black clothes wanted to use and develop upon the conventions of clothes within House music video. In this way we are creating an appealing esthetic and contrast within our music video. All whilst allowing for the paint which we will throw at our performers and lead singer to be shown in exceptional detail on the white clothing. Additionally we chose to purchase 3 sets of white clothes for each of our performers and lead singer so that if one of our paint throws is ineffective we can attempt it another two times. Finally once we have agreed as a group upon the clothes and the amount that we want to purchase we agreed our group member Naomi would be tasked with acquiring this clothing. In conclusion we have successfully decided upon the costumes for our music video.
